Hi,

I agree that the nature of our society is not conducive to social interaction and this is having negative impacts on a personal and societal level. I also believe that people are sub-consciously eager for a stronger sense of community and more genuine social connection. As an example, last night I participated in a Bocce league. This is a new experience for me and I love it and apparently so do many others across the country. Participation in Bocce is growing fast and it is not just for old Italians any more. Why? Because it is a highly social experience. During a match, about half the team are actually playing and half are eating, drinking and conversing while watching the ongoing match. At the club where I play, this amounts to over 150 adults every evening of the week.

If you know of similar examples, I would like to hear about them.

[...] And we have, in many societies, lost any true sense of community. Someone knocks on your door, you lay low. There’s only so much time and, well, ya know, also safety concerns. “At a personal level we are disengaged or indifferent in more and more situations.” [...]
