Why Join?

The We Media Community reflects the wisdom of a diverse network of individuals and companies from across industries who believe the power of media, communication and human ingenuity should be applied to innovate in business AND to make the world better through media.

The We Media Community is the antithesis of trade and professional associations that seeks to define, defend and extend narrow interests. The We Media Community connects traditionally isolated silos of knowledge and interests to enable ideas, expertise and opportunities to flow across industries and sectors, worldwide.

Together we seek new collaborations, new relationships and new ways of thinking.

Members of the We Media Community support and inform each other, and we work with each other on projects, investments and actions that reflect these common goals:

  • We help each other understand and use expanding media and communications technologies both to innovate in business and to create better-informed global citizens.
  • We learn from and embolden each other to create a world that is not only better-connected to information but one that is more capable of applying information for the common good.
  • We want to work with each other to do something – to apply what we know, to invest, to take risks and to see something new and powerful emerge from our connection and collaboration.

The community is organized and facilitated by iFOCOS, a non-profit media think tank and futures lab. More about iFOCOS here.

The Power of Us

We Media itself is an idea: it’s a counterpoint to “The” media. In a world connected by digital information networks and devices, the power to produce and distribute media and communications services is now in everyone’s hands. That includes grass roots groups, bloggers and independent media creators, as well as institutions large and small that share space, time and attention with everyone else in the connected society. A new creative class of technology entrepreneurs, dreamers, inventors, story-tellers and digital media producers is fueling a relentless cycle of innovation in communications. The outcome is uncertain (more about that here).

Key Value

As a member and participant in the We Media Community, you and your company will be better-positioned to identify and respond to opportunities for innovation, to achieve greater social impact through your work, and to expand your knowledge, perspective and professional network.

Members tap into the shared knowledge and collective intelligence of a global, cross-sector community of thinkers, leaders and innovators who inspire and learn from each other, create new relationships and develop new projects to benefit all segments of society.
